Abstract:
" ... In the battle against their son Micah's leukemia, the Chase family faced an unexpected foe in addition to the disease itself: their insurer's refusal to pay for the bone marrow transplant that offered Micah his best chance at recovery. Eagle Feathers and Angel Wings: Micah's Story is a loving tribute to a life cut tragically short, but its revelations about the difficulties ordinary Americans face in accessing critical medical treatments are deeply unsettling." President Bill Clinton.

Eagle Feathers and Angel Wings: Micah's Story is a wonderfully written account of one families journey through a tragic and most likely preventable event. In this book author Shelley Muniz chronicles her son Micah's battle with a rare form of leukemia, a disease that would ultimately take his life when their insurance company refused to pay for a potentially life-saving treatment, and the affects that this had on him, his family and everyone that loves him.
This deeply moving account of her families struggle to save their loved ones life will at times move you to tears and make you smile. More importantly, however, it will lead you to question the state of our health care system that is more concerned about saving a dollar than saving the life of an exceptional young man with a love for life and a will to live.
