Unique, top article. In-depth analysis of hazards of aquatic pollution to plankton. The paper discovered a new type of environmental hazard of pollution to plankton populations. It is interesting that the immediate target of some pollutants that were studied in this innovative paper is not plankton but organisms of another chain in food-web, namely bivalve mollusks who are filter-feeders. These polutants exert their negative effect on plankton in indirect way, via their effects on the mollusks. As a result of interactions between the the mollusks and plankton, an effect of the pollutants on the plankton takes place. It is a superb paper on ecology.
I recommend this paper to all researchers in many fields: environmental toxicology, aquatic toxicology, ecotoxicology, zoology, limnology, aquatic (freshwater and marine) ecology, biological oceanography, and others.
This paper will be well-cited.
