I read this novel from my local library, Lake Macquarie, NSW, Australia, and found it terrific; the translator did a fine job; the author's manner of speech is down to earth, excessively readable, sufficiently literary for a Nobel, I would think. I am sure there is a full future for this author, he deserves it!

The story wanders around Poland over many years, and to old fogies such as myself, the history relives itself. If you want my rating.... 10/10
