Abstract:

The publication contains eight reports of investigations by the office of the Parliamentary Ombudsman into complaints about access to government information. The cases include: the failure of the Cabinet Office to provide copies of progress reports on records made publicly available under the Open Government Initiative; the refusal by the Ministry of Defence to release a list of countries designated as priority markets for UK defence sales, and to release information relating to the Rendlesham Forest UFO incident; and the refusal by the Higher Education Funding Council for England to release two pages of an investigation report prepared by external consultants.
